Views sought on town regeneration

A public consultation is to be carried out into plans for the future of Ellesmere Port in Cheshire.

A number of vacant or under-used sites in the centre of the town have been earmarked for a revamp with plans for housing, offices and industrial use.

The six-week exercise, which begins next week, will see special focus groups set up to allow residents and local firms to give their views.

Suggestions will also be sought on how to improve public transport facilities.

The consultation will also look at whether additional shops should be provided in the town centre.

Plans exhibited

The sites earmarked for regeneration include the former HH Robertson's site at Cromwell Road, the former Fina Depot at Crescent Road and two sites off Meadow Lane.

A leaflet and questionnaire will be sent to all residents within the central Ellesmere Port area.

Exhibitions will also be held a number of venues throughout the consultation period which begins on 19 May.

The plans will be on view from that date at several venues including the Planning Department at the council, Ellesmere Port Library and Westminster Neighbourhood Office.

Anyone interested in offering suggestions for the future of the port should send them to Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council by 30 June.
