Second arrest after fatal crash

A second teenager has been arrested by police investigating a crash in which a 17-year-old boy was killed and four others were injured.

A Lexus being followed by an unmarked police car collided with a van coming in the opposite direction in Bootle, Merseyside, on Thursday night.

An 18-year-old man, from Kirkdale, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving on Friday.

Merseyside Police are continuing to question a 17-year-old from Kirkdale.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

The dead teenager, who has not been named, was the front seat passenger in the Lexus.

Police said the arrested man remains in hospital with head injuries, along with three other people whose injuries are not life-threatening.

The unmarked police car was following a Lexus and a Skoda before the collision on Thursday night.
