Jewellers robbed by armed raiders

The men escaped on foot into the city centre
Police are asking shoppers who took pictures of an armed robbery at a jewellers in Chester to come forward.

A smartly dressed man was let into Boodle and Dunthorne on Eastgate Street and two other men burst in behind him.

The three men were armed with a gun, an axe and a hammer and threatened staff. They escaped with a substantial amount of jewellery and watches, police said.

Officers would like shoppers who took pictures of the incident on their mobile phones to contact them.

None of the staff were harmed but they were left very shaken.

Detectives said the street was very busy when the robbery took place just before 1600 BST on Friday and bystanders may have taken pictures on their mobile phones.
