New sailing club plans for town
A Wirral riverside town is to get a new boutique hotel and sailing school.

The privately funded development in West Kirby will be located at the head of the Marine Lake at the junction with Dee Lane.

The £10m plans will mean the replacement of the old sailing school, plus a hotel with restaurant, bar, spa and conference facilities.

The aim is to make West Kirby a "destination resort" and attract more tourists to the area.

There will also be new public toilets, shops, a cafe and a tourist information point for local attraction Hilbre Island.

Councillor Bob Moon, Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure in Wirral said: "This is exciting news.

"The scheme will deliver significant economic benefits including approximately 50 new, sustainable jobs."
