A host of famous local names will be starring in the BBC's Liverpool Nativity, which is to be performed in the city streets this Christmas.
Jennifer Ellison said the nativity was full of "fab people" and "good fun"
The story will be told through music of Merseyside and characters will perform songs accompanied by a live orchestra.
Former Brookside actress Jennifer Ellison and Cathy Tyson - star of Band of Gold - will be taking part.
It will be broadcast on BBC3 and produced by the same team who oversaw the Manchester Passion last year.
Geoffrey Hughes, from Wirral, who played Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances, will also star in the production.
Executive producer Sue Judd said: "We had our first cast read through last week and it was so amazing to see so many big Liverpool names round the table and really getting into the spirit of it.
"We all sang along to all the songs - it's just going to be amazing!"
West End start Jennifer Ellison said she is excited to be taking part.
"There's just so many fab people, great Liverpool actors - it's going to be really good fun," she said.
"It's something that I wanted to do because it gets me back to Liverpool and the people I'm working with are just great."
The hour-long production will be broadcast live on 16 December and will follow torch-lit crowds through Liverpool's streets towards the River Mersey.
The performance will culminate with a nativity scene on the banks of the Mersey.
It is hoped it will kick-start Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture in 2008.
