Man found collapsed is 'critical'
A 52-year-old man is seriously ill in hospital with severe head injuries after he was found collapsed in a street by a phone box in Wirral.

The ambulance service was called to the junction of Bebington Road and School Lane in New Ferry at about 2130 GMT on Wednesday.

Police do not yet know how the man's injuries were caused.

Detectives want to hear from the woman who called the ambulance. The man is in a critical condition in hospital.
