Daughter's letter to dying father
Garry Newlove
Mr Newlove confronted a gang of up to 15 youths, police say
The daughter of a man fatally injured while confronting vandals near his home wrote a letter pleading with him to get better as he lay dying in hospital.

The 12-year-old penned the letter to her father, Garry Newlove, after he was attacked outside their home on Station Road North in Warrington, Cheshire.

Mr Newlove, 47, was attacked on Friday and died on Sunday. Six youths, aged 15 to 19, are being questioned.

In the letter Mr Newlove's youngest daughter urged him not to give in.

She wrote: "I love you with all my heart so please don't give in.

"I know you can fight this as you are a strong, loving man who I know loves me no matter what.

"I am asking you to be strong and don't give in as I love you too much to believe that you won't go without a fight.

"You mean the world to me and I wouldn't change you for the world.

"I can't get across to you how much I will miss you and I don't know what I would do without you."

Cheshire police have said that inquiries into the fatal attack are ongoing and they are still looking for people in connection with the incident.

According to neighbours, Mr Newlove - a father-of-three - was attacked after he approached a group of youths on Friday night.
