Man 'critical' after gang attack

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being attacked in the street by a gang of teenagers.

The 57-year-old was assaulted by up to eight youths on Station Road North in Warrington on Friday night.

He was taken to hospital and is being treated for what are reported to be "life-threatening" injuries.

Eight male teenagers, between the ages of 15 and 19, have been arrested over the attack and will be questioned by police later.

Cheshire police said they have increased patrols in the area and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
