A man being is questioned in connection with a security alert which brought parts of Liverpool to a standstill.

Roads were closed after a member of the public reported a suspect suitcase at the National Express coach station on Norton Street just after 1100 BST.

Police cordoned off the area and Army explosives experts were called to the scene just after 1100 BST.

A controlled explosion was carried out and roads which had been closed off were reopened.
