One of Liverpool's busiest commuter routes is partially closed this morning after a fire.
The blaze broke out at some derelict houses at 2010 BST on Thursday on Prescott Road in Fairfield.
A three-story building was well alight and the fire had spread to a neighbouring property when fire crews had arrived.
The blaze made the buildings unsafe and the road was closed between Stanley Street and Holland street.
Council surveyors will assess the situation this morning.
Police say it is likely to remain closed during the rush hour.
