Police probe 'unexplained' death
A major police investigation is under way after a man's body was found by workmen in Wirral.

Detectives were called to an alleyway off Argyle Street South close to Hamilton Square in Birkenhead.

Merseyside Police have not released any further details about the discovery and are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.

They are treating the death as "unexplained" and scene of crime officers are examining the area.

A number of major roads were closed around Hamilton Square while investigation work was carried out.
