Epileptic woman robbed during fit

An epileptic woman has been robbed while unconscious in the street suffering a seizure.

Greater Manchester Police have condemned the attack, in the Benchill area of Wythenshawe, as "despicable".

The 27-year-old woman was on Broadoak Road on Friday morning when she fell to the floor in an epileptic fit.

When she regained consciousness, she discovered that her handbag with her phone, wallet, and medication in it had been stolen.

Sgt Neil Tolley, of Greater Manchester police, said: "This truly was a despicable crime.

'Heartless'

"Instead of helping the woman as she was lying there unconscious, the thief decided to steal her belongings and the medication that would make her better.

"It absolutely beggars belief the kind of person who would sink to these levels for personal gain.

"It was broad daylight when this woman was robbed and we would like to appeal to anybody who might have seen it happen to come forward and help us find the heartless people who did this."

The woman's bag was a khaki green shoulder bag, about the size of an A5 sheet of paper. It has "Hooch" written on its front.

Inside the bag was a black canvas purse containing a bankcard, a Sony Eriksson K800i black mobile phone and a bus pass.
