More than 1,000 police officers were on duty in Merseyside on Mischief Night to combat anti-social behaviour.

Fifty eight people were held for offences related to the traditional bad behaviour night, most for criminal damage and public order offences.

Officers issued more than 30 Fixed Penalty Notices for disorder and other offences in addition to seizing missiles such as eggs and flour.

Police will be patrolling anti-social behaviour hotspots all week.

As well as issuing fines, police took a number of young people involved in anti-social behaviour home to their parents.
