Bomb man wanted to film explosion
A Home Office worker has admitted possessing bomb-making material at his home in Liverpool.

Callum Atkinson, 19, who lives in Aigburth with his parents, bought several chemical ingredients, to make the explosives, on the internet.

He intended to film homemade explosions and make fireworks, the court heard.

Atkinson admitted possessing explosive substances under suspicious circumstances at Liverpool Crown Court and was remanded until 20 October.

Further psychiatric reports are due to be carried out before sentencing.

Judge Denis Clarke ordered the name of the website where Atkinson bought the substances should not be named in case others may try to get the same explosives.

Anthony O'Donohoe, in the teenager's mitigation, said Atkinson had the materials to make pyrotechnic devices and had no intention of causing any harm.
