A hedgehog had to be rescued by firefighters after it became jammed in a fence in Cheshire.

The animal was stuck between a post and fencing panels on Leigh Avenue in Widnes, Cheshire, at about 2000 BST on Tuesday evening.

The RSPCA alerted Cheshire Fire Service to the animal's plight, and one appliance was sent to the scene to rescue it.

The hedgehog was freed from the fence uninjured.
