Murder hunt after man shot in car

A murder investigation is under way after a man was shot dead in a car on a Merseyside industrial estate.

Passers-by heard shots outside MWM Waste Services on Redfern Road in Bankhall, Bootle, on Thursday afternoon, and found the man.

Merseyside police said the man was in his 20s and lived locally, but has not yet been named.

The area around the firm has been sealed off and police are examining CCTV footage from nearby cameras.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out by a Home Office pathologist.
