A Liverpool teacher has pleaded guilty to having sexual intercourse with one of her teenage pupils.
Fairhurst admitted having sex with the boy
Elvira Fairhurst, 49, from Allerton, began an affair with the boy just before his 15th birthday.
She pleaded guilty to 11 counts of sexual activity with a child just as her trial was due to start at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday.
Fairhurst was bailed to appear again for sentencing on 29 June. The maximum jail term she could face is 10 years.
Judge Henry Globe, QC, the Recorder of Liverpool, warned the married mother-of-two to expect a custodial sentence.
He said: "As I am sure you are only too well aware, you have pleaded guilty to some extremely serious offences and the only likely outcome, it seems to me at the moment, is a custodial sentence.
"The fact I am granting you your bail should not be regarded as an indication of the likely outcome."
Fairhurst had sex with the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, between six and 10 times between January and May 2005.
The court head that she also performed a sex act on him and touched him indecently during the same period.
