Two men accused of the killing a man who was shot on his doorstep in Liverpool have been cleared of murder.

Michael Abbott, 50, and his nephew Mark Abbott, 27, both from Speke, were found not guilty of killing Joseph Peloe, 45.

Mr Peloe was shot as he answered the door at his Speke home. He staggered to a police station, but later died.

At Liverpool Crown Court, Michael Abbott, of Carley Walk, and Mark Abbott, of Bray Road, had denied murdering Mr Peloe, in December 2004.

Craig Abbott, 23,of Carley Walk, Speke, who denied incitement to cause grievous bodily harm and Claire Gibbs, of Hindley Walk, Speke, who denied attempting to pervert the course of justice, were also cleared on the judge's directions.
