Driver abducted in bungled raid
E-fit of suspect
Police say a man fitting this description was left at the scene
A delivery driver was assaulted and abducted during a bungled robbery at a cash and carry in Liverpool.

The man and his passenger were attacked by a gang as they delivered cigarettes to Costco in Waterloo Road, Kirkdale.

The robbers left empty-handed after failing to start the delivery van, but bundled the driver into their vehicle and later dumped him in Fonthill.

Police have released an e-fit of one of the suspects. A £15,000 reward is being offered for information about the gang.

Community thanked

Both victims are now recovering from their injuries after being released from hospital, but are said to have been left extremely shaken by their ordeal.

The stolen silver Mercedes van in which the offenders escaped was later found set alight in Delamore Street, Anfield.

Insp Rob Hill said: "This was a vicious attack on two people who were simply trying to do their job.

"Extensive inquires are being made and I would like to thank those members of the community who have helped us so far in this investigation.

"We are confident that, with further help from the community, we will identify those responsible."

The e-fit released by Merseyside Police is of one of the attackers who remained at the scene and escaped on foot along Waterloo Road.
