Man struck by underground train
A man is in a critical condition after being hit by a train on an underground track in Liverpool city centre.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the track between Lime Street and Moorfields early on Sunday.

Police said the man is believed to be in his 30s or 40s and was about 1,000 yards inside the tunnel when he was hit by the train.

The man suffered serious leg injuries and was cut free by a fire service rescue team.

British Transport Police say it is not yet known why the man was on the line but at this stage they are not treating it as suspicious.
