Pedestrian dies in road accident
A 66-year-old pedestrian died when she was struck by a car as she crossed the road in Merseyside.

The woman had been walking with her 68-year-old husband across Thingwall Road at the junction of Coombe Road in Irby, Wirral.

Her husband has been treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Merseyside police, who said the driver of a green Citroen stopped at the scene, are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
