Chantel Taylor

A man accused of killing a 27-year-old woman whose body has never been found has appeared in court.

Stephen Wynne, of Elmswood Road, Birkenhead, is charged with murdering mother-of-three Chantel Taylor, who went missing in March 2004.

At Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, he pleaded not guilty and will face trial in January.

Wynne also denied setting fire to a mosque in Birkenhead in July with intent to endanger life.

Ms Taylor was last seen leaving her home in Newling Street, Birkenhead. Detectives dredged the River Mersey and searched the old Cammell Laird shipyard, in Birkenhead, but her body has yet to be discovered.
