Two held after armed police siege
Two men have been arrested after an armed police siege in Merseyside.

A passer-by told police he saw a man with a gun in a car on Thursday morning. The vehicle was traced to a house in Thompson Road, Seaforth.

Officers sealed off the house, closed several roads and told neighbours to stay indoors while a police negotiator talked to the occupants.

Two men were arrested two-and-a-half hours later and police seized two blank firearms and a knife from the house.

The house is opposite William Gladstone School and Nursery, which is closed for the Easter holidays.
