Anfield plea for missing student
Steve Cook
Mr Cook was on holiday with friends when he disappeared
Family and friends of a Liverpool student who went missing while on holiday in Crete hope football fans will be able to help find him.

Steve Cook, 20, from Sandbach in Cheshire, was last seen by his friends on the first night of his holiday in the resort of Malia on 31 August.

The Liverpool fan's brother and friends handed out leaflets as the team played Manchester United at Anfield.

His brothers, Tony, 28, and Chris, 30, have been to Crete to try to find him.

Chris said one of the worst moments over the past two weeks was during a family meal.

Out of character

"We sat down to eat and Steve's place was there and it hit me," he said.

"Just sitting down and having something to eat in such an abnormal situation hit me quite hard."

Steve's brother-in-law, Philip Edwards, 37, has said it was totally out of character for Steve to go missing.

"His friends say they were merry but not stupidly drunk. He was happy and jovial and on holiday," he said.

The family were expected to hand out about 15,000 leaflets at the game on Sunday.
