Student goes missing on holiday
Steve Cook
His disappearance is said to be out of character
A university student has gone missing while on holiday with friends on the Greek island of Crete.

Steve Cook, 20, of Sandbach, Cheshire, arrived in the resort of Malia last Wednesday night.

The group went out for the evening but Mr Cook split up from them at the end of the night, saying he was hungry and was going to get some food.

His brothers, Tony, 28, and Chris, 30, flew out to Crete on Sunday to try and look for him.

'Jovial'

Mr Cook's parents, Norman, 62, and Patricia, 61, are said to be "distraught" at their son's disappearance.

His brother-in-law, Philip Edwards, 37, said it was totally out of character for Steve to go missing.

"His friends say they were merry but not stupidly drunk. He was happy and jovial and on holiday," he said.

The rest of the group are due to arrive back into Manchester Airport on Wednesday, when they will be interviewed by Cheshire Police.

Officials at the British consulate on the island are helping the family speak to police and the local hospitals.
