Parrot theft leaves striker sick
Jude Littler and Djibril Cisse
Djibril Cisse will have to wait another year for a new parrot
Pet shop thieves stole an African parrot which was due to be delivered to Liverpool footballer Djibril Cisse.

The 600 pet and another African Grey parrot were taken from a pet shop in Tarvin, Cheshire, on Monday evening.

The thieves smashed a 3ft square hole in an 18ins thick solid stone wall on Monday evening before taking the birds.

"Unfortunately [Cisse] will have to wait until later this year until we can get him another," said store manager Anne Craven.

Confident bird

"The one that was due to leave us was a lovely little bird. She would climb over everybody and smother them in kisses.

"She came in to us in quite a distressed state but she had really grown in confidence.

"We never sell animals to people who can't look after them, so it is horrible to think of both of them being sold to any Tom, Dick or Harry."

The other stolen parrot was called Golly Grey.
