A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an attack on a black woman who was stabbed and racially abused in her Liverpool home.
Angie Ncube, 28, originally from Zimbabwe, was stabbed in the eye and leg after finding a burglar in her kitchen in Dingle on Thursday.
Ms Ncube had to jump out of a first floor window to escape.
The man is being quizzed on suspicion of assault, aggravated burglary and racially aggravated offences.
Det Chief Insp Nicky Holland, of Merseyside Police, said: "This was a particularly vicious attack both in terms of the racist abuse and the seriousness of the injuries caused.
"This is a woman, living on her own, who was physically and verbally
threatened in the most horrendous way.
"Our detectives are speaking to as many people as possible in the area to catch the person responsible."
The man arrested comes from Dingle and was being questioned at a police station in Merseyside.
