A beautician from Liverpool had her hopes dashed of winning the Miss World pageant staged in China.
Danielle Lloyd, 20, is currently Miss England and was 20-1 with the bookmakers to win the global contest.
But she lost out to Miss Peru, who beat Miss Dominican Republic and Miss USA in the battle of contestants from 120 countries in the 54th contest.
With an estimated audience of 2.5bn only the Olympic Games and football's World Cup attract more viewers.
