Jogger 'critical' after lightning strike
A 35-year-old jogger is critically ill in hospital after being struck by lightning in Merseyside.

Campbell Gillespie was running with friends in Waterloo, when lightning is thought to have struck his necklace.

He was knocked to the ground and suffered head injuries in the accident on Sunday morning.

A spokesman for Mersey Regional Ambulance Service said: "The man suffered burns to his back and serious head injuries.

"It appears he was struck by lightning and knocked to the ground, causing the head injuries."

He is being treated at University Hospital Aintree, in Liverpool, and his condition is described as "critical".
