Officers find pair dead in house

Investigations are continuing at the house

A man and a woman have been found dead by police at a house in Greater Manchester.

Officers were called to Tig Fold Road in Farnworth late on Wednesday night and discovered the bodies of a man and woman, both aged in their 40s.

A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said an investigation has begun into the deaths, but it is thought to be an "isolated incident".

Tests are to be carried out to find out how the pair died.

Det Insp Andy Cunliffe, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "This investigation is at a very early stage and to be speculating about what has happened would be unhelpful.

"There are a number of possibilities we need to explore and we will do that during the course of our investigation.

"I would however like to reassure residents in the community who may be anxious that we are doing everything we can to establish the facts and this is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no reason to cause alarm."
