Woman quizzed after son's death

Detectives are continuing to question a 39-year-old woman on suspicion of the murder of her baby son in Manchester.

Police were called to Portlock Road, Baguley, on Wednesday morning after reports of the death of a baby.

The one-year-old boy was taken by ambulance to Wythenshawe Hospital but pronounced dead a short time later.

A post-mortem examination was carried out but the cause of his death could not be established, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said.
