Scooter rider dies in collision

A pensioner has died after a collision with a car while on his mobility scooter in Greater Manchester.

Peter Carrol, 72, of Lancaster Road, Wigan, suffered a head injury and multiple leg fractures in the accident on Saturday morning.

He was in collision with a silver Ford Focus on Scot Lane, Pemberton, as he crossed the road on his scooter.

Mr Carrol died in hospital. Greater Manchester Police are trying to trace any of his friends and relatives.
