Aircraft makes emergency landing

An aircraft carrying 242 passengers from Tel Aviv in Israel to Manchester airport had to make an emergency landing in Budapest.

The Boeing 757, Jet2 flight LS 908, had taken off on Thursday afternoon when the pilots decided to make an emergency descent to ease pressure problems.

The aircraft touched down safely and passengers spent the night in a hotel, an airline spokeswoman said.

A replacement aircraft brought passengers back on Friday afternoon.

Passengers reported smoke and a burning smell but airline officials said the problem was a cabin pressure issue.
