Four charged over 'race' attack

A 19-year-old woman and three teenagers have been charged over an attack on a girl in a Rochdale park which is being treated as racially motivated.

The 17-year-old Asian victim suffered a fractured eye socket and was left with part of her attacker's jewellery lodged in her cheek.

A girl, 16, and a boy, 15, face charges of racially aggravated assault after the attack in Springfield park.

The woman was charged with a racially aggravated public order offence.

A 16-year-old girl has been charged with a public order offence.

Police described the attack, which happened last month, as "savage".

All four are due before Rochdale magistrates on 5 August.
