The family of a man shot dead in a doctor's surgery car park have urged his killer to speak to police.

Junaid Khan, 21, was shot with an automatic weapon while he was on the ground in Block Lane in Chadderton, Oldham, early on Thursday.

Mr Khan worked in his father's shop and was shot close to where he lived.

His father Mumtaz Khan, 60, said: "My son has never got into trouble with the law, and we appeal to his killers to hand themselves over to the police."

"We also want to hear from his friends who were around him at the time of the shooting to help us piece together what happened," Mr Khan said.

"He was probably taking someone's side and his friend's attackers took revenge on him."

Mr Khan's sister Raheela, 29, said: "We just want justice. We don't want another family to be shattered.

"Junaid was a much loved son. His killers have snatched him from us. He was our strength and support.

"My mother keeps calling his mobile, hoping he will answer it. She will never get over this."

Car on fire

Police want to hear from anyone who saw a silver Mitsubishi Shogun in the area around the time of the shooting.

The Shogun was seen to drive along Block Lane after the shots were heard and was later found on fire in a car park near to the Akora Steakhouse on Broadway.

Mr Khan, of Cotton Mill Crescent, Oldham, died from multiple gunshot wounds and was the second victim of a fatal shooting in Greater Manchester in a week.

Police have said they have "no evidence" to link his death to the killing of Nasar Hussain, 30, at Brookhouse Supermarket in Salford.
