The father of a shop worker shot dead in Greater Manchester has said he is "devastated" by his son's death. Nasar Hussain, known locally as Nasar Shazad, 30, was shot at least six times at Brookhouse Wines in Winton, Salford, on Saturday night. He died in hospital. Police hunting his killer have been investigating whether a gun found in a car in Oldham was used in the shooting. Mr Hussain's father, who lives in a remote area of Pakistan, was told of his son's death by local authorities. Mr Hussain had only moved to the Salford area six months before his death. 'Brutal murder' His father, who does not wish to be named, said: "My son was very kind and a good son. He offered his prayers every day. "I am devastated by his death."

It is always incredibly difficult for a parent to hear the news their child has died

A post-mortem examination revealed Mr Hussain died from gunshot wounds to the chest and stomach. Det Supt Mary Doyle said: "This is a dreadful time for Nasar's family and they are trying to come to terms with his brutal murder, thousands of miles from home. "It is always incredibly difficult for a parent to hear the news their child has died but the barriers of distance and communication have made it that bit harder." One man arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released without charge. Nine men and two women arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder have been bailed until 17 August pending further inquiries. The gunman walked into the shop and shot the shop assistant six times before escaping in a blue Mazda, registered M239 NUK, which was later found burned out on Laburnum Avenue in Wigan.
