Eleven people are being quizzed by police after a shop worker was shot dead in Greater Manchester. Nasar Hussain, known locally as Nasar Shazad, 30, was shot at least six times at Brookhouse Wines in Winton, Salford, on Saturday night. He died in hospital. The Pakistani national, who had lived in Salford for six months, died from wounds to his chest and stomach. The police watchdog has been asked to review information sharing between officers before the shooting. A gunman walked into the shop and fired the shots before escaping in a blue Mazda, registered M239 NUK, which was later found burned out in Wigan. Police said they were called to the shop on Brookhouse Avenue just before 2100 BST, following reports a man had been seen with a gun.
Eight men and two women were later arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder at various addresses in Greater Manchester. The 11th suspect, a man, was arrested on Monday. Det Supt Rebekah Sutcliffe, of Greater Manchester Police (GMP), said: "Although we have 11 people in custody we would still be interested in speaking to anyone who can tell us more about this brutal attack on an innocent shop worker. "This man was just going about his daily work when he was gunned down. "I'm keen to speak to anyone who may have any information about the people responsible for this attack, particularly anyone who saw the blue Mazda driving away from the shop before it was dumped in Wigan." GMP and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) have made a joint referral to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), the force said. "The referral is to allow independent examination of information sharing between SOCA and GMP prior to the fatal shooting," a GMP spokeswoman said.
