Missing paedophile back in prison

A convicted child sex offender is back in prison after being tracked down in Mexico through a "Most Wanted" website.

Andrew Eden, 50, from Rochdale, was jailed for four years in 2001 for abusing a seven-year-old girl, but went missing when released on licence.

Eden was remanded in custody by Manchester magistrates.

He was arrested in Mexico after being featured on the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre's Most Wanted website.

The former part-time fireman had been jailed for sex attacks on the girl and perverting the course of justice.

More charges

But after his release in August 2003 he was still on licence and should have notified police of a change of address and reported to a police station regularly under the terms of the Sex Offenders Act.

Eden went missing in January 2005.

He was spotted by a member of the public in Mexico, arrested last September and finally returned to the UK this week.

Eden faces three charges of failing to notify police of a change of his address, failing to notify of his intention to travel abroad and failing to report to police periodically - all breaches of the terms of his release on licence.

He will also have to serve the remainder of his original sentence.

Eden is due back before Manchester magistrates on 13 July.
