Four held over fatal arson attack

Two people arrested on suspicion of murder were released without charge

Police investigating an arson attack which killed a grandmother and her grandchild in Bolton have charged four people with witness intimidation.

Hameeda Begum, 71, and Alana Mian, four, died in the fire in Little Holme Walk, in Great Lever in June last year.

A man, 23, a woman, 25, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl are due before magistrates in Bolton on 7 July charged with witness intimidation.

The blaze started in a bin at the front of the house.

A boy, 14, and a man, 22, arrested on suspicion of murder have been released without charge, Greater Manchester Police said.

Alana's mother, Saima, and firefighter Steve Morris, were seriously hurt but have since been released from hospital.

Mr Morris was given a Recipient of Courage accolade for his bravery.
