Man rescued after embankment fall

A 45-year-old man was rescued after falling 10ft (3m) down an embankment near a tram line in North Manchester.

Fire and ambulance crews pulled the man, who was unconscious, up the slope near the Metrolink line on Dulwich Street, Collyhurst at about 1300 BST.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters used ropes to pull the man to safety.

The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.
