Food outlets rated in star scheme

A "scores on the doors" initiative will help diners in a Greater Manchester town check if their local restaurant is clean and hygienic.

Set up by Oldham Council, ratings for each restaurant, take-away, supermarket and pub can be seen via their website.

Under the scheme, the performance of each business will be shown by a star rating, with five stars being the best.

The findings are based on inspections carried out by the Environmental Health Service.

Residents who want to see the latest inspection report for a local restaurant, take-away or retailer can visit the council's website at www.oldham.gov.uk/food-safety.
