The funeral for an off-duty police officer who died when he was hit by a car which failed to stop has taken place at Stockport Crematorium.

A full police guard of honour was held for Pc Mike Silcock, 30, who died on 6 March after he was hit by a BMW car in Heaton Mersey, Greater Manchester.

Police said the car was being driven erratically before the accident.

Four men aged 29, 24, 19 and 21 were arrested on suspicion of murder. All were bailed pending further inquiries.

Pc Silcock had just left the Frog and Railway pub with a 25-year-old colleague when the pair were hit by the car.

A yellow BMW Three series M3 coupe was seen driving away from the scene and was later found burnt out on Burnage Lane.

His colleague was also taken to hospital, but his injuries were not life threatening.

Detectives are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have seen the car being driven around the Stockport and Manchester area to contact them.
