Detectives have been given more time to question two men over the murder of a police officer in Greater Manchester.

Pc Mike Silcock, 30, was hit by a gold BMW Three Series coupe on Didsbury Road, Heaton Mersey, Stockport, on Friday. He later died in hospital.

The two men, aged 24 and 19, will be questioned further on suspicion of murder, police said.

A 21-year-old man also remains in police custody and a 29-year-old has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Pc Silcock, 30, was off duty when the incident happened.

He had just left the Frog and Railway pub with a 25-year-old colleague when the pair were hit by the car.

The other officer was treated in hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
