Murder charge over bottle death

Emma O'Kane
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder

A man has been charged with the murder of a mother-of-three who was killed when a bottle was thrown into a pub in Greater Manchester.

Neil McNulty, 19, of Peel Lane, Heywood, will appear before Rochdale magistrates on Monday.

Emma O'Kane, 27, was hit in the neck by a piece of glass in the early hours of Saturday. She died later in hospital.

She had been celebrating her partner's birthday at the Queen Anne Hotel on Market Street in Heywood.

Ms O' Kane worked as a barmaid at the pub, but was off duty at the time.

She was with Michael Shepherd, 38, her partner of more than five years.

The couple, who were planning to marry, had three children - Reece, six, Jack, two, and one-year-old Ellie-Mai.

A post-mortem examination showed Ms O'Kane died as a result of a wound to the neck.
