Wearers wanted for stiletto study

Three women wearing high-heeled shoes
Scientists will look at how leg muscles are affected by stilettos

Researchers at a Manchester university are looking for women to take part in a study on the effects of high heeled shoes has on their body.

The Manchester Metropolitan University study will use magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasound to see how leg muscle structure and use is affected.

Volunteers must have regularly worn stilettos measuring a minimum of 5cm for at least the last two years.

Anyone volunteering should be aged between 20 and 50 years.

Robert Csapo, a PhD student, said: "Nobody has ever looked at the effect on the lower leg muscles in this scientific way.

"We want to get some hard scientific data on the changes caused by high heels."
