Man charged with 64 sex offences

A 49-year-old man has been charged with 64 offences against children, including several rapes of girls under 14.

Robert Jackson, of Northfield Avenue, Pontefract, West Yorkshire, is charged with offences alleged to have taken place in Manchester's Merseybank area.

The offences include gross indecency and indecent assault on females aged under 14 and several attempted rapes of females under 14.

Mr Jackson is due before Manchester Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

Greater Manchester Police said the offences allegedly took place between 1996 and 2004.
