Man in court over fatal car crash

A man from West Yorkshire has appeared in court accused of causing the death of a father and son who died in a crash on the M62 in Greater Manchester.

Gary Proctor, 47, and his son James, 16, from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, died in hospital after their Fiat Punto crashed with an Audi Quattro in August.

Imran Hussain, 32, of Como Avenue, Bradford, is accused of causing death by dangerous driving.

A hearing at Bolton Crown Court was adjourned to 17 November for reports.

Mr Hussain is also charged with being more than twice the legal drink-drive limit and of making threats to kill against a female BP petrol station attendant in Leeds. He was remanded in custody.

The fatal crash happened on the westbound carriageway of the motorway between junctions 19 and 20 at Rochdale in the early hours of 3 August as Mr Proctor, his wife, Catherine, and James were on their way to catch a flight to Florida.

Mrs Proctor, 44, was seriously injured in the crash and suffered a broken arm and ribs.
