Police hunting hit-and-run driver

The net is closing on a driver who left a teenage boy seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash, police have said.

The 15-year-old was crossing a road in Middleton, Greater Manchester, when he was hit by a white or silver Honda CRV.

He suffered serious head injuries and broken limbs, but has since been discharged from hospital.

"Our inquiries have narrowed down the make and model of the car and the net is closing in on this driver," said police spokesman Sgt Simeon Holt.

He added: "I would urge them to call police immediately because if you don't, we will be coming for you."

'Deserve answers'

The boy was in the middle of Kenyon Lane, at its junction with Oldham Road, when he started to cross the road on 7 October.

Police did not initially know the make of car which struck him, but have since identified it as a Honda CRV built between 1997 and 2002.

Sgt Holt, of Greater Manchester Police, added: "It has now been two weeks since this young boy suffered very serious injuries and the driver has still not come forward voluntarily.

"I would hope they search their conscience and come forward because the family of this young boy have been left devastated and they deserve answers."
