Man held over fatal crash bailed

A man arrested over the death of a pensioner in a hit-and-run crash has been released on bail.

Doris Wade, 89, from Stockport, Greater Manchester, was hit by a car which failed to stop on Turves Road in Heald Green last Wednesday.

She was taken to hospital for treatment but later died.

A 56-year-old motorist from Cheadle Hulme who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been bailed until 11 December.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is being urged to contact police.
