Man, 29, abducted by masked men

A 29-year-old man was abducted by a gang of masked men and bundled into a van before being driven around the streets of Manchester.

A passer-by called police after witnessing the abduction on Rolls Crescent, Hulme, on Tuesday night.

The man was found safe a short time later on Hyde Road but had suffered minor injuries in the ordeal.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the abduction which happened shortly after 2230 BST.

Detectives said that the man was bundled into a white Ford Transit van and was driven around Moss Side before being put into a silver Honda Civic which had been stolen from Old Trafford on 23 September.

The victim believes he was then driven around Moss Side again before being released.

The Honda was later found burnt out on Moss Lane West.

Det Sgt Daniel Clegg said: "This was a particularly frightening experience for the victim and we need to find the people responsible.

"The victim did not receive any serious injuries, however anyone who believes this type of behaviour is acceptable needs to be caught and held accountable for their actions."
